"We know many details about agriculture, but a global overview is missing. This book about the World of Agriculture tries to will fill this gap a little bit. This will be done with self-made photos, experiences and a bias of us two old German agricultural and travelling enthusiasts."
Gerold and Klaudia Rahmann
Agriculture is the basis of everybodies life. It provides our food and drinks as well as non-food commodities like fiber for cloths, construction material, fuel and even beauty (e.g., flowers). Those commodities are produced, processed, marketed and consumed. Unique rural and food cultures are created in thousands of years and still developed. They determine the daily actions and behavior of everyone.
Usually, science have a look on global thinks using statistics and data collected by others. But statistics are not all. The reality is very often different than the statistics tell us. To have a look on the thinks is a step down from the look from above (statistics) down to the ground (verification). “Pictures tell us more than 1000 words” is very often said, and that is right. Many thinks are much better understood, if we have a picture. Pictures are snapshot of specific moments under specific situations, that can give us an example and tell us the story behind the statistics. Only self-made photos are used, made in the last fifty years.
Gerold and Klaudia traveled nearly 40 years together, with the focus on our passion: agriculture. Gerold visited all countries, Klaudia 110, and they made a lot of photos and experiences. The travels were long and short, business and private, exiting and boring tours. Nevertheless, their experience is documented in this book and allows others to take part of her lifelong journey in the World of Agriculture.
