Klaudia Rahmann (maiden name: Brand) was born 1961 in Umländerwiek rechts 25 in Papenburg, Germany: 53°04'36.6"N 7°27'00.8"E, 4 m asl) in Papenburg, Germany. She was number four of five children on a small-scale self-sufficiency farm. She trained as a florist in Leer and studied tropical agriculture at the University of Kassel, Witzenhausen. She married Gerold in 1990 and finished her Bachelor of Science in 1992 with the thesis on “solar drying of food”. She worked on the experimental farm of the University for several years. In 2002 she moved with Gerold and their kids to Northern Germany and she started working in communal politics. An im-portant work was always gardening for self-sufficiency.
