Syria

Syria had been embroiled in civil war for many years until Assad lost power in 2024. After that, in 2025, Gerold was able to travel to the ravaged and destroyed country. I travelled overland from Beirut to Damascus, Palmyra, Homs, Hama and Aleppo. It was important for me to see the situation for myself. Many people had returned from their diasporas, bringing so much new knowledge and impressions back to this melting pot. For many, returning will probably be a step backwards in their life plans if they have to.
